Michael Stonebraker is a luminary in database systems at MIT. Nicknamed the “father of relational databases,” his research has been central to many relational database management systems (RDBMS) we use today. Stonebraker’s career has revolved around creating and refining RDBMS and data warehouses, with notable contributions like Ingres and Postgres. Currently an adjunct professor at MIT, he continues to innovate in data management with his work on C-Store, H-Store, and SciDB.
